Michelle has been designing textiles since 2010.
Michelle Holik is an Australian artist and surface pattern designer. Her style is hand drawn & painted stylised botanicals for interiors and homewares. Using pencil, pen and watercolour Michelle creates original artwork for textiles, wallpaper, and just about anything you can put a pattern on!
Her artwork is inspired by nature, floral and leaf forms are always found in her work. Ornamental, architectural, and botanical illustrations of the 18th & 19th centuries heavily influence her style. Exploring the forms and details found in these drawings are an endless source of inspiration.
Based in the beautiful South Coast region of NSW, Australia where she lives with her partner and dog.

History
Michelle has been designing textiles and surface patterns for over 12 years, and has designed for a number of leading homewares retailers in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Europe and the UK.
From a young age she always wanted to be a fashion designer, but after a short time studying this she didn’t feel it was the right path. She studied fine arts where she learnt all the foundations of painting, drawing, and sculpture, with a focus on classical styles and techniques. Combining this with a love of fabric she discovered textile design and went on to gain a degree from RMIT University in Melbourne.
During her final year Michelle began working part time for a homewares company, which lead her to gain a job at the iconic Sheridan design studio immediately after graduating. It was here she discovered her love of bedlinen and designing for home and interior textiles. Michelle has gone on to work with a number of leading home & interiors textile suppliers, gaining invaluable experience along the way.
Creating art has always been a part of her life, with strong support and influence from her mother, and artist and sculptor, to forge a creative career.
