Australian native floral design for bedding

I recently worked on a design for Target Australia and I’m happy to share the final product with you as seen below on bed linen.

This is for Spring/Summer 2022, and Australians just can’t get enough of our native flora. This design is hand drawn in a sketchy style, allowing the natural forms of the plants to come through.

The oversized placement of this artwork gives it extra impact, as well as the simple colour palette chosen to reflect our surroundings. Sometimes the simplicity of colour can really make the design stand out, as well as giving it more longevity in the market by including black and white as key colours and letting the linework of the drawing be the hero.

Watch the drawing come to life in the video below. Drawing freehand gives the design a sketchy feel, while looking at references to make sure some key features of the flowers and leaves were included.
